The Players Association were from New York.
The group was the brainchild of:

and producer:
Danny Weiss.
Originally a studio band further comprising Joe Farrell (sax) and Jon Faddis (trumpet), they signed with Vanguard Records in 1976 for 'Players Association', including 'I Like It'.
'Born To Dance' (1977) followed, including, 'Love Hangover', 'Everything's Gonna Be O.K.' and 'Goin' To The Disco'.
The line-up on this set included Hills, Michael Brecker, David Sanborn, Jon Faddis, Mike Mandel, Steve Khan, Wilbur Bascomb and Mtume.
'Turn The Music Up', arrived in 1979, included the title track U.K. Top 10 dance classic and 'Ride The Groove' (UK Top 50).
'We Got The Groove' was released in 1980 and was a re-vamped version of the previous album, with some new tunes (including 'The Get Down Mellow Mellow Sound').
Chris Hills also played percussion with Mike Mandell, while in 1987 Danny Weiss produced a jazz album for Members Only ('Members Only', including the very Players sounding 'Just Fine') released by Muse Records and featuring former members of Players Association.
